Chairman: Mr Thomas Aitken now working part time is the 6th generation to work in the company having followed his father also Thomas Aitken. After school he served in the Royal Navy before working in the timber industry in Liverpool and New Orleans. Following a few years experience in G & A he did a Management Development course at Harvard Business School. He has travelled widely in West Africa, Malaysia and North & South America buying timber. Thomas is a keen yachtsman and skier.
Managing Director. Mr Cameron Aitken, brother of Thomas and after leaving school took an MA in Business Administration at Strathclyde University followed by an MBA at the University of Western Ontario Canada. He also has travelled widely in timber producing countries and in West Africa has carried out legal verification of suppliers to meet EU timber regulations for Responsible Purchasing. Cameron is licensed pilot with instrument rating and a former member of the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team.
Roderick Aitken – Son of Thomas Aitken and the 7th generation of the family business. Roderick has a degree in forest management from The University of Aberdeen. He has spent one year working in Malaysia’s forest and sawmilling sectors, then two years with BSW timber in Scotland. He joined G&A in 2005 and has recently become a director responsible for operations. Roderick is Aitken and Howard’s principle contact for Greenheart including supply and auditing supply chain. He has carried out responsible purchasing audit work within West Africa, Far East and Guyana. Roderick a keen sailor and kayaker in summer, climber and skier in Winter.
Paul Kemp – Paul joined Aitken and Howard in 1992 and is responsible for sales and marketing of marine timber sales in England and is based in Mayfield East Sussex. Before joining the firm, Paul has previously worked for Montague L Meyer Ltd, MacMillan Bloedel Inc. in Vancouver, Seaboard International in London. Oy Hackman ab and then Kemp Collins and Robinson Kemp Collins. Paul has travelled extensively in the Middle East, Europe, Ireland and the UK for the Company. His hobbies include Golf, Book binding, walking and gardening and bungee jumping
